Family cycling

Lochmaben – the place with the Castles and Lochs has a lot to offer.

In Lochmaben and its district, there are several beautiful and compelling reasons to take a cycle and explore the area.

These routes have been chosen to avoid main roads where possible and are aimed at those of us who are not serious cyclists but want to explore the area more.

Stunning Landscape: Including picturesque lochs, rolling hills, and charming countryside, also immerse yourself in the natural beauty and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings.

Historical Sites: The area is steeped in history, with several historical sites waiting to be explored.

Nature and Wildlife: A chance to encounter the local wildlife, and observe the diverse flora and fauna in their natural habitat. Birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts will particularly appreciate the abundance of wildlife in the area.

Peaceful Retreat: An ideal place to find solace, and enjoy cycling along tranquil roads and scenic routes that can help you relax and rejuvenate.

Stay Safe

Follow traffic rules: Obey traffic signals, signs, and rules.
Use hand signals: so that drivers and other cyclists can anticipate your actions.
Stay in your lane: Ride in the same direction as traffic.
Stay aware: Pay attention to your surroundings and road conditions.
Avoid distractions: Don’t use your phone or headphones.
Maintain your bike: check your brakes, tires, etc.
Ride defensively: Assume drivers may not see you.
